There's a chart on this page with the race/class combos being added in Cataclysm.
I'm personally looking forward to Night Elf Mages. I wonder what lore they're going to come up with to explain it. There's a very good reason that Night Elves turned away from Arcane magic, after all.
Night Elves turned away from Arcane Magic because their reliance on it is what originally brought the Burning Legion to Azeroth and created the Naga (they were Highbourne Night Elves before). So they abandoned it all together. There ARE some Mages left (Dire Maul has them), but not in their mainstream society.

Exactly. Part of the fun of RPG's is the "RP" - roleplay is an integral component in why I and a lot of other people play. People may want to play certain race/class combo's that aren't available - but they're not available for the reasons that go along with the story line. By getting rid of those restrictions, they're bringing more people into the game (and in some cases increasing the length of time those already in play) but it's being done so at the expense of a very good reason to play in the first place.
Compare and contrast this with what Games Workshop has done with their line. They've changed the way the Eldar army list works (very annoying since I almost had a complete Swordwind Warhost) BUT the changes were made to accomodate their new Planetstrike and Apocolypse expansions - and the models you have are not only usable in the new expansion, but they still support the "regular" 1500-2000 point scenarios. The brilliant thing? Long-time players still get to play and have fun with new smaller and common average games, but the new games require at least triple the models. Good for business, but no alienation of any of your existing customer base.
Blizz could learn a thing or two about gamers.
I don't understand why people don't trust me. Maybe it's my cleavage. Maybe it's my demons. Maybe people just make up reasons not to trust me - because my cleavage and my demons are working as intended...
